You can protect a child’s future.

A CASA volunteer is someone with a heart for helping kids who we match with an abused or neglected child in the local family court system. Each CASA volunteer spends about 5 to 10 hours a month visiting their matched child, learning about the child’s past and present, and sharing what they learn so that the child gets services and doesn’t fall through the cracks.

Regular people like you are getting real results for abused and neglected kids by serving as Court-Appointed Special Advocates.

CASA of Lexington’s Impact in 2024

CASA of Lexington’s works every year to help as many child victims of abuse and neglect as possible return to safe, permanent homes and regain their childhoods. The number of children we can serve each year is determined by the number of people who choose to be volunteers and the number of people who choose to fund the mission.

673 Children Served

In 2024, CASA of Lexington helped 673 abused or neglected children in the family court systems of Bourbon, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Lincoln, Scott and Woodford counties. That’s 673 children who would otherwise not have had someone visiting them monthly and advocating for their best interests in court. You can read about some of our CASA children’s success stories.

275 CASA Volunteers

275 people like you volunteered with us in 2024. They contributed more than 15,000 hours to improve the lives of the children we serve. 49 of those volunteers earned the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award. You can meet some of the different people who serve as CASA volunteers.

688 Households Donating

People living in 767 households supported CASA of Lexington financially in 2024, making it possible for the volunteers to do their life-changing work. It costs around $1,000 to provide a child with a CASA volunteer for a year, or around $2,500 to provide a child with a CASA volunteer for the duration of an average case — less than what it costs the state to provide foster care for one month. You can make a donation of any amount right now.

Tiffany’s story

Tiffany had a lot of trauma to work through. Therapy wasn't working.

Fortunately, she had a CASA volunteer, Dave.

Dave took the time to get to know Tiffany. Dave realized she was not the type to sit and talk about her feelings.

Dave did some digging to find a solution. Dave recommended equine therapy sessions for Tiffany, and the judge thought it was good idea.

Tiffany recently began her new therapy sessions on a local farm. Her mental wounds are finally beginning to heal as she works with the horses!

You can make a difference like Dave!

What happens when you fund a CASA volunteer?

CASA volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children, giving them a voice and a chance at a better life. The volunteers can’t do their jobs without paid staff called Volunteer Managers, who have extensive training on the family court system and guide the volunteers every step of the way. CASA of Lexington couldn’t hire Volunteer Managers to make the work possible without donations from people like you.
